THE HISTORY OF CMVC

Founded in 1926, Castleford Male Voice Choir was formed by male choristers from several church choirs within the town and its current membership stands at approximately forty. The present conductor Andris Ugulis has been with the choir since the beginning of 2015. The Accompanist is Claire Burden.

The Choir has sung in many prestigious venues, including Leeds Town Hall, Wakefield and Ripon Cathedrals, York Minster, Selby Abbey, the Royal Albert Hall and Sheffield Arena to name but a few. The choir has appeared on the BBC on “The One Show” and, most recently, on BBC Radio Leeds in December 2017 at the Ridings, Wakefield.  Our repertoire of music is wide ranging and includes Sacred Music, Spirituals, Songs from Musicals, Opera, Folk and Pop Songs. In all its performances, the Choir endeavours to provide the very best of entertainment and is ambitious to develop from its present high quality standards.
